A family fights against poverty and the prejudices of others while trying to preserve their modest home in a lower-income suburb of Sydney.

An Australian production about an old scrap dealer who lives with his three grandchildren and their beloved Clydesdale workhorse Sam on a prime piece of real estate in a rundown neighborhood. Their lives are disrupted when a wealthy Japanese land developer decides to build a large hotel next door and wants to acquire the old man's scrap yard as well. The developer's grandson also wants the horse for his own.
